{Limburg}
Oh, the love I have for Germany.
The love is so strong.
Perhaps it's due to the people
Perhaps it's German architecture
Perhaps it's the beer
Perhaps it's the language
Whatever the reason, I could see myself living there. Maybe one day.
I was invited by Hilde and Wolfgang Schwenk to come and stay with them in their beautiful village of Eppenrod.
I have been waiting for so long to meet the Schwenks. My entire life, I have heard the most magical stories and tales of them. I have always felt like I knew them so well, when in actuality I met them once in my life (when I was about six)and I have no recollection of the meeting.
The Schwenks moved from Germany into a house in Michigan that just so happened to be near my grandparents home. Their friendship with my grandparents blossomed into something wonderful.
Sadly,they moved back to Germany after five years of living in Michigan. Since they returned to Germany, my grandparents have kept in pretty constant contact with them and have even visited (as have my parents.)
I love the friendship that the Schwenks and my grandparents share. I admire it greatly. It makes me realize that if friendship is true, distance will not be a hindering factor.
When I stepped off the train, in Limburg, I recognized Hilde immediately. She yelled my name and wrapped me into her arms as if she has known me for forever.
And so began my own relationship and adventures with the Schwenks.

 Wolfgang: "I wore this hat so that you would recognize me...your grandpa gave me this hat, did you know that? I love this hat"
