{last moments}
My last few hours in Eppenrod were filled with a few precious moments that I will hold dearly for the rest of my life. The day was burdened by a chilly rain that refused to let up. Wolfgang and I drove to a nearby village to buy some white asparagus. I had mentioned to Hilde about my love for asparagus and my sheer fascination of the white asparagus that they grow in Germany. Together, the three of us, made a lunch of schnitzel with white asparagus and asparagus sauce. It was magnificent.
My entire visit, I had been meaning to get some good shots of the Schwenk's dog, Alecia. Spending time with this marvelous white German Shepard was an absolute pleasure. She is so well behaved and has such a wonderful presence...but she doesn't sit still. And so, much to my dismay, photographing her was quite a struggle. It was equally as hard for me to leave this pup. I just wanted to tuck her into my pocket and keep her for my own.

I can't extend enough thankfulness to Hilde and Wolfgang for inviting me to come and visit. The pure love and joy that they shared and expressed towards me was enough to make me wish that I could have stayed there with them for forever.
As I left, I chose not to say "goodbye" but rather to say "until we meet again"
Because, I am quite certain that one day we will cross paths again.
