{Wales}
Last weekend we ventured to the north of Wales to get away from the city for a bit. I have always been a huge fan of city living...but I have been finding that big cities sometimes become quite overwhelming (the constant hustle and bustle, the crowds and polluted air.)
Wales has the tallest mountain in the UK, which is why we specifically ventured there. Blaire has such a heart for mountains. I've always listened to her gush over them and I never fully understood.
One must see and feel in order to understand.
We stayed in this magnificent little hostel that sat at the foot of the mountain range. With the mountains behind our hostel and a lake in front, we soaked in every moment of our Wales get away.
Saturday was hiking day. We hiked for three hours up the mountain in the fog. Rai and I fell a little behind the group (we blame our short legs) and therefore decided to just take our good ol' merry time.
There was a lot of laughter.
And a lot of mini hiking breaks.
And a lot of rock collecting (I just can't help it...perhaps I should change my major to Geology)
Although the fog kept us from spectacular views at the very top of the mountain, I felt so extremely accomplished. I cannot quite explain the feeling of being on the top of a mountain. Perhaps it is a feeling that is beyond the use of words. And so, we sat on the tippy top of a 4,000 ft mountain and ate our peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches and marveled at the thick blanket of fog that we were surrounded by.
Rai and I were also the last ones down the mountain.
We sealed the day with a quick jump in the icy lake.
Wales, your beautiful mountains were rejuvenating. They filled me with such peace and awe.
| We pretty much had this entire train car to ourselves. Train sleeping may be my new favorite type of slumber |
| We had to take two different buses from the train station to the hostel. We got to explore this lovely little Welsh town while waiting for a bus. |
